PRAYER OF THE HISTORIC MARTYR CYPRIAN

They are read only with the blessing of the priest. We begin to say the prayer of the Hieromartyr Cyprian. Whether day or night, or at any hour when we pray, all the forces of the adversary will fall from the glory of the Living God.

This Hieromartyr, when he prayed to God with all his soul, said:

– Lord God, the Mighty and Holy One, King of kings, now hear the prayer of Your servant, Cyprian.

Before You stand a thousand thousands and a multitude of Angels and Archangels, You know all the secret heart of Your servant (name) , stand before him, Lord, as You did with Paul in chains and with Thecla in the fire. So it behooves me to know You, for I was the first to commit all iniquities.

You held back the clouds and the heavens, and did not send rain to the trees of the garden, nor did you give them fruit. You commanded the lazy women to wait, and did not allow others to conceive. You only looked at the fence of the garden and did not create. You commanded that the vine should not blossom and the ears should not ripen, the grapes should not bear fruit and the beasts should not produce offspring. You forbade swimming and the birds of the air to fly. Thus did You manifest Your power in the presence of the prophet Elijah.

I beseech You, Lord my God, all sorcery and all evil demons that incline a person to sin and commit sin upon him, You by Your power forbid! Now, Lord my God, the Strong and Great, who has deigned to make me worthy of being unworthy and to become a partaker of Your Holy flock, I beseech You, Lord my God, whoever has this prayer at home or with him, do for him what is asked in it.

By Your Most Holy Majesty You have shown mercy to me and have not wished to destroy me with my iniquities, so do not destroy everyone who begs You with this prayer!

Strengthen the sick in prayer, strengthen the weak in spirit, give understanding to the despairing, and do not reject those who turn to Your holy Name.

And I, falling down before You, Lord, beseech and implore Your holy name, that in every dwelling and in every place where a Christian is most severely afflicted by witchcraft from evil spirits or demons, may this prayer be recited over the person’s head or in the house, and may he be freed from evil spirits, that is, envy, temptation, jealousy, hatred, grudge, fear, poisoning from pagan food, and from every spell and curse.

And whoever says this prayer in his house, may he be preserved from all devilish tricks, the cunning of evil people, from spells and from all sorcery and witchcraft, and may demons flee from him and evil spirits retreat.

Lord my God, who has power in heaven and on earth, for the sake of Your Holy Name and for the sake of the unspeakable mercy of Your Son, our God Jesus Christ, hear at this hour Your unworthy servant (name) , who says this prayer, and through it may all the wiles of the devil fall away.

As wax melts from fire, so may all witchcraft and evil spells perish from the face of the person who reads this prayer. For we know no other God but the Life-giving Trinity, who is our enlightenment, and we know no other god but You. In You we believe, we worship You, and we beseech You: protect, intercede, and preserve us, O God, from all evil deeds and sorcery of evil people.

Just as You brought sweet water from the rock in the dreams of Moses, so, O Lord God of hosts, lay Your hand upon Your servant (name), full of Your mercy, and protect him from all deceit.

Bless, O Lord, the house in which this prayer is said, and everyone who honors my memory. Send down Your mercy upon him, O Lord, and protect him from all witchcraft. Be, O Lord, his helper and protector.

Four rivers: Pishon, Geon, Euphrates and Tigris; a man from Eden cannot hold them back. So no sorcerer in his deeds or demonic imaginations can do anything before reading this prayer, by the Power of the Living God!

May the demon be overcome and may all opposing and evil forces that have come from evil people against the servant of God (name) be dispersed.

As You multiplied the years of King Ezekiel, so You have acquired years for the one who recites this prayer: through the singing of the Angels, the Seraphim, the Annunciation to the Most Holy Virgin Mary from the Archangel Gabriel and for the sake of Her incorporeal conception, our Lord Jesus Christ, His glorious Nativity in Bethlehem, the slaughter of forty thousand infants by King Herod and His Holy Baptism, which He received in the Jordan River, fasting and temptation from the devil, His wondrous victory and His most terrible judgment, His most wonderful miracles that have happened in the world, You grant healing and purification. You raise the dead, cast out demons, and bring about His entrance as King: Hosanna to the Son of David – infants sing to You, You experience the Holiness of Passion, Crucifixion and Burial, and the glorious Resurrection on the third day, as it is written, and the ascension into heaven. And there is heard the singing of numerous Angels and Archangels, praising the ascension of Him who sits at the right hand of the Father and will judge the living and the dead.

You gave authority to Your holy disciples and apostles and said to them: “Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; whose sins you retain, they are retained; and so, according to this prayer, free everyone from all devilish witchcraft over Your servant (name).

For the sake of Your Holy Great Name, I conjure and cast out all evil and wicked spirits, the eyes of evil people and their sorceries: whispering, witchcraft, the evil eye, fortune-telling and every devilish trick. I beg You, Most Gracious Lord, take this away from Your servant (name) and from his dwelling and from all his property.

Let all evil deeds and sorcery disappear; whether in the brain, or under the brain, or in the shoulder, or between the shoulders, or in the muscles, or in the shin, or in the foot, or in the hand, or in the abdomen, or in the stomach, or within the natural boundaries – let it disappear!

Let every devilish action or whisper disappear: whether on gold, or on silver, or on copper, or on iron, or on tin, or on lead, or on honey, or on wax, or on wine, or on beer, or on bread, or on food – let it disappear in everything!

Let every devilish intention against man disappear; whether in sea reptiles, or in mosquitoes, or in animals, or in birds, or in stars, or in the moon, or in beasts, or in reptiles, or in papers, or in ink – in everything let it disappear!

And I will drive out two more evil tongues: Sahamara and Remihara; Elizda and the devil from the servant of God (name) , by the power of the Honorable and Life-giving Cross of the Lord with all the heavenly powers, before the High and Terrible Throne of God, who makes His servants with burning fire, Cherubim and Seraphim, Authorities and Thrones, Dominions and Powers.

At one time, the thief entered paradise with prayer. Joshua prayed with prayer – the sun and the moon stood still. The prophet Daniel prayed and the mouths of the lions were silenced. Save him, Lord, from air, tartaric, water, forest, yard and all other demons and evil spirits.

I beseech You, Lord, that this prayer of the holy Hieromartyr Cyprian may be confirmed by the Holy Trinity for the destruction and expulsion of all evil, the enemy and adversary, the demonic snares that ensnare man everywhere through the sorcery and sorcery of Zadok and Naphael, called Ephil, and the daughters of Samuel, skilled in sorcery.

The prayer of the hieromartyr Cyprian is traditionally used in the Orthodox Church to protect against witchcraft, corruption, the evil eye, the influence of divination and evil spirits.
